Nonso J. Muoneke is a Master of Public Health candidate in Epidemiology at the University of Nevada, Reno. He previously practiced as a physician in Nigeria for three years, gaining clinical experience in patient care and community health. He currently serves as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Larson Institute for Health Impact and Equity, where he supports CDC funded overdose prevention and program evaluation initiatives.
Nonso is particularly interested in improving health outcomes, reducing health disparities, and advancing health equity, especially in the areas of substance use, maternal and child health, and chronic disease prevention. His published work has examined factors influencing the utilization of maternal and child health services in urban primary health care centers, with an emphasis on addressing structural and socioeconomic barriers to care.
In addition to his research, Nonso has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for multiple public health courses and has contributed to student mentorship. He is actively engaged in student leadership and mental health advocacy and remains committed to strengthening equitable health systems that improve outcomes for women and children.
