Aya Hageb is an undergraduate Public Health major with a minor in Biology and a Certificate in Maternal and Child Health at East Carolina University. She previously served as an intern with the Virginia Department of Health through the Title V Developmental Screening Initiative and as a research fellow supported by the NIH Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (U-RISE).
Her academic and professional interests focus on maternal and child health, early childhood development, health equity, and community-based prevention efforts. Through her research and internship experiences, Aya contributed to developmental screening systems, public health data analysis, and community-informed approaches aimed at improving access to care for families.
Aya is actively involved in campus leadership and service, serving as Vice President of the Muslim Student Association and Secretary/Treasurer of Team Awareness Combating Overdose (TACO), while also participating in additional health advocacy organizations. She plans to pursue graduate training in public health and continue advancing maternal and child health initiatives at the state and national levels.
