Born and raised in Los Angeles, Samantha Tapia (she/her) is a second-generation Chicana committed to advancing health equity in maternal and infant health and improving healthcare access for underserved communities across the United States, especially by addressing the unique needs of the Hispanic/Latine community. She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health in the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent (MCAH) at University of California, Berkeley and is a trainee for the Center of Excellence in MCAH. Samantha also received her bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley. By witnessing first-hand the struggles her mother faced in pregnancy as a person with Cystic Fibrosis, it has influenced her goals to become a maternal-fetal medicine physician and public health leader that is keen on uplifting the needs of communities living with complex chronic medical and social conditions.
