Maternal Mental Health Research Training Center (MMH-RTC), Mercy University
Patrice Wiley is pursuing an MS in Psychology at Mercy University. Her research seeks to advance health equity among underrepresented populations, with a focus on maternal health and well-being. Her prior work identified correlates of mental health (e.g., anxiety and depression) among minority mothers in the U.S., and more recently, explored the relationship between parenting self-efficacy and mental health among Hispanic/Latina mothers. As a daughter, her lens is influenced by a deep understanding of experiences that have shaped her mother's resilience, as well as her burdens and sacrifices. She brings her perspective to her role as a student scholar in the Maternal Mental Health Research Training Center (MMH-RTC). Through participation in monthly seminars, she has gained training in research methodologies (qualitative), statistical analysis (SPSS), reference management software (Zotero), and community health (MHANYS CarePath). Collaborative work with a mentored team has led to a co-authored publication titled "Parenting self-efficacy and maternal mental health: the implications of cultural considerations for family-focused practice in the U.S." She is happy to attend the AMCHP 2026 conference and looks forward to this valued experience.
