Nikki Dyer (they/them) is the Family Engagement Consultant for the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) unit at the Washington State Department of Health. They are the Washington State Family Delegate and the current Chair for AMCHP’s Family Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Committee. They have nearly 15 years of professional experience in the field of child development, education, and disabilities. Mx Dyer spent 9 years working directly in the school system in various roles, including paraprofessional support for special education students and as a classroom teacher. They promote the inclusion of family voice within the CYSHCN program at the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages, and advocate for this engagement across MCH domains. They work with the Family Advisory Council for the CYSHCN unit. They hold many family hats as a mother to an autistic 4-year old and sibling to a brother with autism, as well as being neurodivergent themself. They have a Master of Education degree, Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature, and are a LEND alum.
