This study uses data from the 2023 National Survey of Children’s Health to explore how caregiver physical and mental health—particularly maternal well-being—affects school absenteeism among U.S. children aged 6–17 years. Findings reveal that poor maternal health and having a child with special health care needs significantly increase the likelihood of missing more than 10 school days, underscoring the importance of family health in improving educational outcomes.
