(P-6) Preparing for Policy Change in Maine: Exploring Smoking During Pregnancy Data to Educate Providers Before Tobacco Tax Increase

Though the prevalence of smoking during pregnancy has decreased over time, Maine continues to have a significantly higher prevalence compared to the US. We analyzed the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) to educate providers on experiences and risk factors faced by pregnant tobacco-users. Those who had anxiety, depression, 3+ stressful life events, or 4+ ACEs had a higher prevalence of smoking during the last 3 months of pregnancy than pregnant people without those challenges.
