Mariela Rodriguez moved to Baltimore five years ago to knock on doors for the 2020 Census—and loved the city so much that she decided to stay. She now serves as the Program Manager for B’more for Healthy Babies at the Family League of Baltimore. In this role, Mariela provides technical assistance to program implementers and supports the initiative through special projects that strengthen coordination and impact across the city.
Mariela studied Health Behavior Science with a minor in Public Health at the University of Delaware, where she developed a commitment to advancing health equity. Since then, she has held several roles centered on community engagement, public health, and immigrant advocacy.
She previously served as the Community Outreach Manager at the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs in Baltimore City, where she supported immigrant community members, promoted public benefit navigation programs for limited‑English‑proficient residents, and led outreach efforts focused on trust-building and expanding access to essential services.
Before that, Mariela worked with the Baltimore City Health Department as a Clinic Coordinator and Community Organizer. There, she organized numerous vaccine education and outreach events and trained staff and partners on the use of an on-demand mobile interpreting app, ensuring accurate and culturally responsive communication.
